The Devils have scheduled a 1:30 p.m. conference all today to make “a major announcement.”
It is expected that they name a head coach at that time.

Vancouver Canucks release 2009 preseason schedule →
The Vancouver Canucks have released their nine-game National Hockey League preseason schedule. The team will play four games at home, four on the road in other NHL cities, and one in Terrace, B.C., as part of Kraft’s Hockeyville contest.
WatchRangers forward Sean Avery opened a New York restaurant and bar earlier this summer, and goaltender Henrik Lundqvist was there to perform on the guitar.

If Chris Pronger retires any time before his seven-year contract extension is fully played out, all the monies remaining will count against the Flyers’ future caps.
In reading Section 50.2, c (iv), it seemed none of the monies would count because the contract was signed at Pronger’s present age of 34 – and the deal doesn’t kick-in until he is 35.
